Freedom is a concept we often take for granted—a word that conjures images of open skies, boundless possibilities, and the unshackling of chains. But the truth, as I see it, is far more nuanced. Freedom is never absolute; it’s shaped by invisible forces, layered with contradictions, and experienced differently by each individual. With Libertas Intertwined, I sought to unravel these complexities and challenge the way we understand liberty.

 

The Statue of Liberty, a global symbol of freedom and enlightenment, became my muse. To me, she represents not just liberty, but the tension inherent within it. In this collection, her form is reimagined—entangled with spirals and held back by imposing architectural structures. These elements are metaphors for the forces that shape, restrict, and redefine freedom. The spirals, at times graceful and infinite, suggest the ongoing journey toward liberation. Yet, they also choke and confine, reflecting the limitations imposed by society, power, and even our own perceptions.

 

What fascinates me most is how personal freedom is. To one person, liberty might mean breaking away from boundaries; to another, it might mean finding security within them. These interpretations are shaped by culture, upbringing, beliefs, and values. I wanted this collection to reflect that subjectivity—how freedom can be both empowering and alienating, uplifting and oppressive, depending on the lens through which we view it.

 

As you explore Libertas Intertwined, I invite you to sit with these contradictions. The collection doesn’t aim to provide answers; rather, it asks questions:
  • Are we truly free?
  • Does the liberty of one individual come at the expense of another?
  • In a world shaped by interdependence and power dynamics, is universal freedom even possible?

 

Through the purple flowers in this collection, I offer a symbol of wholehearted hope.
